February 2017

February was certainly a ride... with lots of ups and downs and many changes for this family.

Firstly my little girl is not longer little, she decided to move out of home.... big hard one for this mumma. But not only that my little boy grew wings too and flew to the other side of the world for his first big adventure. Which left us as empty nester's... wow... do I like it, do I love it, do I loath it..... well!!!!

Quieter days,  funny how I seem to have more time on my hands with less people under the roof. So lucky for me that meant more stitching, and more me time on the beach.... but that lead to not really feeling like cooking... sooooo, without a chef in the house to say I don't feel like cooking can you... it was time to purchase a slow cooker.... OH my how did I live without one for so long. Spending days at the beach and coming home to dinner done... is just bliss. But those beach days also meant early starts so breakfast baked treats also.... nothing like a good swim then finishing with some freshly baked treat or yoghurt and Nuesli on the beach... life in February was good. 

A certain little somebody, started preschool, so I whipped him up a little book bag.... so cute!!! Whilst I am sharing some stitching, I thought its a good time to share these photos of some of my home made Christmas gifts as well. These are now pride and place in the little girls new home. the "Two of us GOING SOMEWHERE GREAT" cushion, is one I screen printed especially for my girl. The French Bull dog fabric was a splurge on her lovely man, the only pet they will be allowed to have in their new apartment.

February also saw my man and I celebrate 28 years of marriage with its ups and downs. We have made it through them all. Who knew  34 years ago we would still be friends!!!

Sketching days are still happening... some days are better than others... but I am really enjoying the process.

I also fell down the Rabbit Hole with Sarah Fielke and joined her 2017 BOM quilt.... so it was shopping for essentials... to go with my stash to create another quilt. So Lucy will have the Rabbit hole to keep her company and keep me busy. Lucky for me to have such helpers, the little girl and her man joined, we have such fun adventures.

 And one of my joys, now my little girl comes to visit, is spoiling her, this was a feed the troops home made iced coffees and freshly baked apple cinnamon muffins all Gluten and Dairy Free.

ROADTRIP to Nundle NSW - JULY 2016

Sometimes, you just need to disconnect and enjoy your own company.... and this is what I did leaving my home at 4.30 am for a solo 5 hour road trip. Heading out into Country NSW for a girls weekend away in Nundle, for a retreat with Kerry at Cottage on the Hill. This was my first time attending a retreat at Kerry's besides the Girls Day in the Country Events I have attended.

Knowing that I could leave extra early and stop for a little girly fix up (read beauty indulgence) in Quirindi at The Beauty room by Kate. I was well and truly spoilt after arriving at 9.30am and leaving about 12.30. Kate had seen I was waxed, plucked and massaged oh and I even had a fantastic lash lift - yep spoilt.

I kind of invited myself along after hearing Chooky talk about it. Thanks Chooky for letting me come and crash the weekend with you and your friends.

Kerry really has a great plan and makes the weekend so relaxed. After checking into the caravan park, it was up to the cottage to select the quilt design and fabrics.... tada after some deliberation.

it got so cold it was extra frosty in the mornings, such is the little crystals of bliss.

Then it was sewing, eating, sewing, chatting, sewing, eating, chatting repeat repeat repeat... for 2 whole days.

The girls and their progress... amazing how similar but how different we all ended up.

Natures Journey my 2015 BOM

February & March Complete

My Stitch-A-Long BOM and I are a little behind but we are trying. I had a wonderful catch with the wonderful Chooky, and got to visit the Chook Shed in April. With Chooky cracking the whip, I managed to cut all my blocks. But sadly my life has been taken over by my health.... although I write sadly, its kind of weird as I actually think I am finally for the first time in my life totally enjoying exercise. I am attending 5 days a week now and missed 5 last week to a bout of Diverticulitis and I actually missed my Gym and Pool Days.

In my moments of rest I am trying hard to catch up and I have been amazed with the binding tool, making bias strips for the May and June blocks. Oh and my best friend has become the zip lock bag.... so I am almost there.

I can now claim that February, March and April blocks are complete....so hopefully Chooky will grant me a F, M & A beside my name

and May and June will be soon to follow.

 

GDITC - Bag Finish and Swaps

So this weekend is my annual GDITC (Girls Day in The Country) outing, and of course it means deadlines are looming on last years project - but Ta Dah, it is done and packed and ready to go for the weekend.

I did Promise Kate that I would finish my Chateau Quilt but sadly I have been working on it, but it's a lot more than I planned on . I have done over 1001/2 inch hexies, and all but the chateau is needle turned. But I just didn't get to sewing the quilt top together before leaving home. So it will be a next bloggers meet share.

Any how have a great weekend everyone.
