GDITC - Bag Finish and Swaps

So this weekend is my annual GDITC (Girls Day in The Country) outing, and of course it means deadlines are looming on last years project - but Ta Dah, it is done and packed and ready to go for the weekend.

I did Promise Kate that I would finish my Chateau Quilt but sadly I have been working on it, but it's a lot more than I planned on . I have done over 1001/2 inch hexies, and all but the chateau is needle turned. But I just didn't get to sewing the quilt top together before leaving home. So it will be a next bloggers meet share.

Any how have a great weekend everyone.

Creativity so far

Well it has been too long between creative shares so here is what I have been up to in the last 4 on this with my creative hands.

Christmas gifts - makeup bags for the girls and 1950s style apron. Completely lined. It was much loved by my niece, who was so excited as it's just what she had asked for

More market stock - raggy pillows, string bottles, chalk art &  milk crates

Market stock - our treasured Guess how much I love you bunny, a very popular item.

Market stock - a very limited edition Rudolf the red nosed reindeer , as well as my hand painted reindeer signs.

Market Stock - Bunting, lots was added with reclaimed lace tablecloth doilies - oh so pretty.

UFO - a little more work has been done on my "it's a beautiful life quilt"

Then it was on to Swap Gifts and Market Stock - new item, Coffee or Tea Cozies.

So as you can see I have been creating my little fingers to the bones, all stitched with love. 

Oh and there was lots more.

Exciting Day - Screen Printing

Yesterday, I had the most amazing day learning from Saffron Craig how to screen print my own fabric. I started the day with no expectations and no ideas of what I was going to do.

Saffron, started, by showing us a simple design, and then we all took turns at working our technique, I love how this fabric, morphed in colour with each person's addition of a colour change on the same screen, the colours all just blended so well.

But within very little time at all, I had sketched this little design, although I needed Saffron's assistance to get my head around the negative and positive areas and less details to be able to create with it.

I soon was on a roll, just doing one of designs, with certain projects in mind (wink wink)

Then I was off and running with my whole metre of my design, I am just drooling over it, I love it so much and can't believe I DID IT!!!

 Watch this space, for more one of designs by me, as I am armed now with my own tools and inks to create at whim.

Designing Patterns

I love creating from scratch, and with the My latest creation and design - the Chevron Runner printed and ready for sale here, I thought I would share with you all my patterns.

My first pattern that I created was for a gift and with the encouragement of the recipient I put it out for sale this is for a small cot quilt and is known as Sam's Quilt. Since then I have taught at Forever Always Retreats and put out a pattern from each class taught.

Sam’s Quilt pattern

Inspired by my love of stitchery, and a need to create a gift for a new arrival, I created this quilt stitched with love. I wanted it to be fun and bright and very cute. I think I have achieved all of this. After completing this gift, the mother of the recipient a good friend, and a passionate stitcher then encouraged me to create this pattern. I hope you enjoy stitching and creating this little quilt as much as I did.
Finished Size is approximately 35” x 44”

Laugh Dream Create Journal Pattern

This fabric covered journal, is both practical and pretty. Pattern below will fit an A5 Journal. But it easily adapted to fit other sizes, just be sure to adjust your measurements to suit your journal.

My Stuff Tote Pattern

Every girl needs just one more tote, to carry around that stuff or junk. This pattern shares some quick and simple patchwork, quilting and embroidery skills to create a simply cute bag, use it as a shopping tote, or whip up a one for a fantastic quilted library bag or even that extra special gift bag.

October 2011 Forever Always Creative Kit Release (the Evie)

When shopping for these supplies I had visions of coffee and cake, and then I saw photos of little miss Evie Taylor and I had to scrap them and finish putting the kits together with her photos as inspiration.

So although it is September's Kit I have affectionately called it the Evie Kit  and it is filled with all things pink and brown, think coffee and cake almost or soft and cuddly. Featuring items from COSMO CRICKET, ATHENTIQUE, BASICGREY, 7GYPSIES assorted single and double sided papers, Bazzill and of course Kraft, and some lovely little "extras" including Forever Always Handmade buttons and bobs pink collection and vintage music papers to list just a few. Retailing for the extremely competitive price of $28.95, this month's kit comes in the colours inspired by "baby Evie" my soon to be God Daughter and past Design Team Member Amie Taylor's latest family member. This month saw me creating lots of little bits and bobs with vintage and new items on my favourite style packaging the old button card - with the first release of pink passion in the kit, I hope you check out the Sonia's originals tab in the Forever Always Online Store for other card releases. I so hope you enjoy this kit, and all that I have included....here are my samples.!!!

  I just loved the simplicity of this layout, the rubons almost completed it on its own.

 This layout I added from my stash to the Kit supplies thicker alphas and a hat pin, the kit worked well here.

 This was my favourite photo of Evie and I really loved the black and white shot as well.

 Not much added from my stash, just ink, thread and staples...loving that I could work just from the kit bag.

 Last one of miss Evie, and this piece of paper just screamed to used alone, adding only the fabric and stickers from the kit to this one. Extras were some Little Yellow Bicycle Clear Frames, Hot Dollar Glitter Alphas and I had fun doodling the border.

 And last layout, just to prove it doesn't have to be all girly layouts - my awesome birthday cake, possibly the beginning of my shopping for the kit came from here....have added a little KaiserCraft Bling and Pearls, more of the Hot Dollar glitter alphas and some Carolees Creations tiny alphas
