Handmade Gifts - Hexagon Zippered Clutch & Runner

I love finding quirky little extras that can be tied onto packages that just complete a gift

I love to to spoil friends and family with gifts when a special occasion arises. And Pinterest is helping me with loads of ideas - do you drool Pinterest like me making special boards like Christmas, Gift Wrapping Ideas, and Gift Ideas.

So when I need to make a certain someone, something special, I just go and cruise till an idea strikes....like it did this week, for the Birthdays that are coming up.

So Inspired by this item on Pinterest, the fabric, pins and needles came out and and this little wristlet was created. lots of dreamy photos, as I love it so much, I can see me making another one or two of these, especially one for myself. I am sure when the parcel was opened that the owner of this precious gift was just as excited as me making it!!! (ADDED - yes just got the phone message excitement oozed)

No gift is complete without a little handmade Card - these two cuties were quick and fun!!

All wrapped up ready for gift giving

Here is the other handmade part of the other parcel all wrapped up above too - this table runner was made from scraps from a wedding quilt that I have just realised I have yet to share - ah another post to write. I loved the colours and the scraps worked well, this runner I called my hugs and kisses - the white looks like XX kisses and the Orange square is a big Hug in between - well that's my thoughts.

Another Pinterest Idea - pom pom flowers smaller sized is perfect for a gift topper

Do you love to give handmade gifts?

Fathers day

Creating cards and wrapping gifts lots of little pleasures in the lead up to today that special Father's Day.

I new today would be a hard day being the first fathers day without my brother in law. Fathers day. Like all special occasions is steeped with tradition and in ours the men rotate between turns of choosing our outing or activity, this year it would have been Al's turn, Dad and Brian chatted and organized a neutral ground one where we hadn't been with Al - Newtown shopping and lunch at our favourite restaurant Twelve.

Unfortunately for Brian our Kids are both in the workforce and had to work, so we started the day at a very early 6 something, with a cuppa and gifts with the kids before Dylan started work at 7am. Scrambled Eggs which I cooked followed with a Coffee with Bianca, before she started work at 9am. So we were up and off we headed just the two of us into Newtown. Stopping at some of the antique, vintage bric-a-brac shops of course some goodies had to come home our finds ....
Another Cast Iron flower frog, a round one this time and it was only $8 and a bread knife with a guide, it also was $8, we were happy with our purchases.

We had a wonderful lunch, and ate up a storm, of course the fathers photographed cheering!!!

Our meals, favourite on the table was the steak sandwich on sour dough - YUM, followed closely by the spicy chicken burger, Pumpkin and Spinach salad and the Caesar salad with chicken.

Oh my the sweets - yes look at that window......Brian did have a slice of that Lemon Meringue look at its height!!!

We finished with some cruising it was such a wonderful day, not to enjoy the sights we drive by all the time.

and we finished the day with a nice cold beverage, and the company of friends in our front yard just catching the last of the suns rays....what a glorious day.

How did you enjoy your fathers day????

IKEA Card Creativity

i LOVE IKEA, that's nothing new!!! But I also LOVE the little postcards you can buy for like $3 for 6 cards, the prints on them are adorable, and I do have lots of them that I have put in frames or just have added to my scrapping stash to use!!! But last week, when we visited Ikea, I just couldn't not have this set - how cute???
And I instantly knew that I would make cards with them, just adding little embellies and ink - yes a quick little project, and I always have cards on hard in my card stash, for quick grab and run cards!!!

I got a little play time the other afternoon and just whipped these up in no time, it was nice to sit and potter but with most of the work done, there was little to add, beyond some ribbon, brads and stamped words and images - I did enjoy my quick little paper play fix!!!
Miss Kitty is my favourite, brad ribbon and tag
Diva Bear, just a little ribbon and a stamped addition
Mr Owl, received a stamped flag banner - easiest one of all.
Master Bunny, ribbon, stacked stamped image
Now this one I love, Mr Walrus, just cut his tusks and inserted stamped images.

Another week on

Well this cold is still dragging it's tail. One course of antibiotics down, a repeat to go, I have stopped the prednisone, so let's see if I can kick this thing.

I have started to get further on my to-do list, with Christmas just around the corner, nothing like a last minute rush to the gate. So this week has been a little busier than the last few, and I have managed to quietly and slowly plod along.

I went over and did my Niece up for her formal, hair and makeup, it's amazing to see how grown up they all look.

Worked on my Christmas Cards - and am glad to say that after today's post pickup, they will all be in the post, now that is a relief.

With Bianca home for a day I got her into helping me whilst I was working on a sewing project for her, so I am happy to say that my Christmas fruit is soaking for Christmas cake baking on Sunday and whilst she was in a total baking mood, she baked some of these and some of bills jam drops....so my cookie barrell is looking mighty fine.

My Handmade Christmas Ornaments from this swap have all been posted... Yes I was making a list and checking it twice, yep the christmas spirit has got me, almost ready to start singing carols.

While i was working on a wrapping and posting mode, my Nursing Home gifts have been wrapped and ready to drop off to my sewing classes collection for delivery of our huge santa sack. It's not the handmade versions that I wanted to do, but with Ikea having them all ready and pretty these knee rugs will be perfect.

Then still in that packing and shipping mode, this swap parcel went out......so my lucky swap partner will soon be recieving this parcel of goodies from me
I also finished this Madeline Costume for miss B's fancy dress party this weekend.
