The Big Girls, Slumber Party Retreat - Recap

The retreat started with an extra overnight for Tia, we did our nails and some chatting and hit the bed before midnight knowing that Saturday night would be a late one. Up and at it on Saturday, all was organised so just waited for the girls to arrive.

Started the day in the kitchen, LOL the girls chatting whilst I did dishes - how is it that all the best gossiping happens in kitchens.

Time for a little Morning Tea and I had baked lots of treats. Rocky Road,(extra nuts and no Turkish delight) Marbled Brownies and This Carrot and Zucchini Bars with Lemon Frosting, was a healthy winner very tasty and I would cook it again, thanks Pinterest

With lots of surprises for the girls, from the do it yourself popcorn, lolly jar pin cushions and more

another pinterest idea
Chevron Runner was my first Class - but as I knew it would take the best part of the entire sleepover retreat,   I taught both classes together.

I loved creating both classes, and the chevron was such fun. The layout in particular saw me playing with a new tool, which the girls just loved. Being a stitcher I love to sew on my pages, but just can't bare to punish my machine with paper - as it really does damage the machine. I found the WeR Memory Keepers Sewing Kit just amazing and simple tool to add simple embroidery to your layout - love it. so did the girls, I sold out and am ordering more at the end of the week - shoot me an email if your interested before Friday. I am ordering in both the head case (empty not filled as in picture) and the starter kit. We also loved that you can store your needle in the tool. Another love it moment, was the Heidi Swapp range of Colour Magic products that the girls got to use in the kit - I was excited - they could tell!!!

Time for a spot of lunch and chatting around the fire, Roast Pumpkin Soup dolloped with Persian feta filled our cups, and wonderful fresh sour-dough. Just perfect!!!

With classes complete, it was onto playing and, play I did - the girls laughed at me oohing and aaahing over the Heidi Swapp Colour Magic papers - and my layout from the last retreat, finally got finished of course with some of that Heidi Swapp Colour Magic Paper included. This layout even inspired Wendy to work on a similar style - wish I had a photo to share - similar bones but oh so different, one of the things I love about crops.

The girls then spent some time shopping up a storm - whilst they shopped, I cooked - Massaman Beef Curry, with help from the family that table was set and we sat down for a spot to eat. Good Food, Good Company, what more could we ask for!!! JUST WONDERFUL

After Dinner it was more scrapping. Tanya let out big sighs, but was working hard on her runner, 12 hours in and it was completed - see the FA News and More Blog for details. I scrapped more and This Prince charming layout simple but sweet, and I had fun using some of my fabric on a page, saw the night come to an end. - off to bed for everyone.

Breakfast for the girls, as the boys of the house headed off early to work, French Toast, Warm Raspberry Compote and Yoghurt, with lashings of Coffee and Tea, and even more lashings of gossip and laughter!!!

As the girls all packed up, I was left alone in an empty house - Bianca had headed off for a walk with instructions for me to pick her up and enjoy a afternoon coffee out.  But before that I started work on this layout - details in this blog post.

What an amazing weekend, and with requests for yes again please - I am planning September and November
